    THAI&WHY

Connecting people with local life through language and culture.

We practice language, share experiences, and discover the "why" behind everyday communication and culture.

This week Topic: GHOSTS, SPIRITS, SACRED BEINGS

AND HOW WE LIVE AROUND THEM

Ever wondered what those little houses outside Thai homes, shops, and buildings are for?

Or noticed small cups of water, plates of food, placed outside a café or shop and wondered why they're there?

In Thai culture, spiritual beliefs are often part of everyday life. They can influence how people behave, what they respect, and how they interact with the world around them. But how do these beliefs compare with those in other cultures?

    What we'll explore

    • How do beliefs about ghosts, spirits, and sacred beings shape everyday life?

    • What should we know to respect local beliefs , and maybe avoid getting haunted along the way?

    • What do people from different cultures believe in, fear, or find mysterious?

    • Have you ever had a spooky encounter or an experience you couldn't explain?

Plus, learn Thai words so you can ask the spirits to bring you luck or give you lottery numbers!

THAI&WHY is a cultural exchange meetup where we learn not only about languages and cultures, but also from each other.

We'll share stories, exchange perspectives, ask questions, and explore how something strange to one person can be completely normal to another.
